Eastside players started as a small idea – the idea to run a children’s holiday club in which the children put on a production. This happened in August 2008, and the production was Pilgrim’s Progress. It was such a success, and such fun, that the idea was repeated and East Side Players was born! In 2009 the group put on a passion play on Good Friday, after three half days holiday club, and they are now preparing for a second Summer club to take place in August 2009.
How we started.....
About Steffi
Steffi Huxley has always been interested in drama, although as a child she was too painfully shy to take part, and always passed over by teachers!
It was not until university that Steffi began to take part in drama herself, but since then God has used her in this area and helped her to find the confidence to teach others.
Steffi trained in Sweden with Kreativ Mission, learning corporeal mime and physical theatre. She was part of a travelling performing team, visiting Denmark, Germany, England, Czech and the Ukraine. On her return to England Steffi taught the LAMDA syllabus at Moira House School for girls.
Steffi is a member of Langney Community Church and has headed up the children’s work there for several years now. She enjoys working with children, and several of the church children are regularly involved with East Side Players.
Steffi is married to Steve and has two daughters. She works as a freelance writer for Urban Saints and Scripture Union.
